Public licence register Terms of service Back to the register

Effective 22 October 2026

These terms apply to this licence register portal (the "service") and to accounts on it. The service is operated by Syciety AS (org. no. 913 252 926), Oscarsgate 30, 0352 Oslo, Norway ("we", "us"). By using the service or creating an account, you accept these terms.

1. What the service is

The service only presents information that is already published by government authorities: mineral rights, mines, quarries and the companies that hold or run them, as published for Norway by the Directorate of Mining (Direktoratet for mineralforvaltning) and the Brønnøysund Register Centre (Brønnøysundregistrene). We don't create or verify this information. The service is not an official register; the authorities' own registers are the authoritative source.

2. The data and how you may reuse it

The underlying public data is made available by its publishers under the Norwegian Licence for Open Government Data (NLOD) 2.0. You may reuse it on those terms, including by crediting the source named on each page and in each download. These terms do not restrict any right NLOD gives you.

3. Accounts

4. API and API keys

5. Acceptable use

Use the service in a way that doesn't harm it or its other users. In particular, don't:

Requests and downloads are logged, and downloads are recorded against the account that made them, so that we can enforce these terms and keep the service available.

6. No responsibility for the data

The service and its data are provided "as is". We take no responsibility for mistakes, omissions or delays in the data, whether they come from the government sources or from how the data is combined here (for example, licence holders are matched to companies automatically). Nothing on the service is legal, financial or investment advice. Check the official registers before relying on any information.

7. Liability

We accept no liability for any loss or damage resulting from the use of the service or its data, from decisions based on it, or from the service being unavailable. This applies to the fullest extent Norwegian law allows; it does not limit liability that cannot be limited by law.

8. Privacy

How we handle personal data, including account details stored with Amazon Web Services in the EU (Stockholm) and the download log, is described in our privacy notice.

9. Changes

We may change the service or these terms. We will show the date of the current version at the top of this page. If you keep using the service after a change, the new terms apply.

10. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Disputes go to Oslo District Court (Oslo tingrett), unless mandatory consumer rules give you another venue.
